On Tuesday, October 17th, “Opiekun” will make its debut - Agora's new magazine addressed to people who take care of their loved ones on a regular basis. In the magazine, readers will find useful information, practical advice, help and support.
– We are handing over a new press title to our readers. In our quarterly, we will write about issues important for people who care for an ill, elderly, dependent family member. Taking care of ageing parents, sick spouses and other family members is a difficult challenge. In such situations it is necessary to start thinking about rehabilitation, nursing care, furnishing the house with helpful equipment. For such people, together with the foundation “Razem zmieniamy świat”, which runs the “Damy radę” project, we have prepared a magazine guide, thanks to which this first step may be at least a little easier and oriented in the right direction - says Ilona Szajkowska, the editor-in-chief of the magazine.
In each issue, readers will find interviews with people whose daily activities are related to caring for the elderly and dependent persons. The first issue will include interviews with: Ewa Błaszczyk, an actress, co-founder of the “Akogo?” foundation and the originator of the “Budzik” Clinic, Jerzy Owsiak, whose Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy has supported senior citizens for several years, and Anna Kliś-Kalinowska, a nurse with many years of experience in palliative and hospice care and long-term care.
The magazine will also include practical advice on caring for those who require it. In the first issue readers will learn how to take care of a lying person - how to arrange a room, how to choose a rehabilitation bed, how to prevent decubitus ulcers, how to treat difficult-to-heal wounds and how to choose an anti-bedsore mattress. The editorial team will also explain in detail how to take care of an ill person.
However, the advice will not be limited to care and hygiene tips - in every issue, the editorial team will collect the most important information about the services, financial assistance and support from the state. The first issue of the magazine will include an offer of public health services in the field of patient care, services for patients and caregivers, ways of adapting the interior to the needs of the sick and disabled, and everything about telecare.
A separate section will also be dedicated to issues related to the appropriate diet of people in need of permanent assistance. In the first issue of the magazine, the editorial team will present the advantages of an easily digestible diet for seniors, together with a practical overview of recommended and inadvisable products.
In addition to practical advice, the magazine will also offer psychological support - from the first issue of the “Opiekun”, readers will learn how to deal with situations when the burden of caring for their loved ones falls on them, how to understand the person suffering from Alzheimer's disease and how to fill in the time of the patient in a valuable way.
The editorial team encourages to send questions and share doubts - they will be answered by doctors and qualified specialists.
The issue was created in cooperation with the “Razem zmieniamy świat” Foundation - www.razemzmieniamyswiat.pl.
The partner of the title is SENI.
The 116-page quarterly at the price of PLN 9.99 will be available on the market for three months. It will be supported by promotion in the press (Agora's magazines, “Gazeta Wyborcza” and its weekly magazines), on the Internet (Gazeta.pl's services), on the radio (Agora's radio stations), on television (TVS, METRO), in Helios cinemas, on internal advertising media (Health TV) and in press sale points.
