Press release
Two innovative projects of Agora have been selected for the Digital News Initiative program and will receive financial support from Google. The projects are "Przeswietlajac polityków" (working title) and "Mikrofon TOK FM".
On Wednesday, 24th of February, 2016 Google presented a list of projects that will receive support under the DNI Innovation Fund. Over 27 million euros will be given to the creators of 128 projects from 23 European countries. In Poland, 7 projects received funding, including 2 reported by Agora - one by "Gazeta Wyborcza" and the other by Radio TOK FM.
The project of "Gazeta Wyborcza" and BIQdata.pl will provide all Poles with a possibility to trace the actions and initiatives submitted by their representatives in parliament and in local governments. The data will be compiled in a graphic form supplemented by the contents of "Gazeta Wyborcza". The project aims to help citizens understand the impact of large and small policies on their daily lives - household budget, education and health.
The idea has received funding in "Large projects" category.
Agora Radio Group prepared a project called "Mikrofon TOK FM" - project of an online platform and mobile application allowing listeners to send their views in audio and contribute in real time to the broadcast of Radio TOK FM.
"Mikrofon TOK FM" received funding in "Prototype projects" category within DNI.
Digital News Initiative is a collaboration between Google and more than 160 news publishers from across Europe to support high-quality journalism. Under the DNI fund, they can apply for funding of their innovative projects. The first call for applications for the DNI program started in autumn last year and ended in December 2015. The next round will be opened in spring 2016 - the publishers will be able to submit proposals for new media initiatives.
