Music projects of the Agora Publishing House in 2017

Music projects of the Agora Publishing House in 2017

In 2017, Agora Publishing House offered over 60 music items - from jazz, through pop and alternative music, to the best electronics. Agora Publishing House has established cooperation with other labels, started production of music videos for artists from its own portfolio, developed concert activities, and its albums have been featured in the highest places on the OLIS list.

In 2017, the following artists joined the Agora Publishing House's musical portfolio: Grzegorz Turnau, Natalia Kukulska, GrubSon, Ten Typ Mes, Marcin Masecki, Jan Młynarski, Me and That Man - a project by John Porter and Adam Nergal Darski, A_Gim, Mikromusic, Marek Napiórkowski and Variete. Selected works of these and other artists from Agora Publishing House's offer can be listened to here.

The bestselling album of Agora Publishing House last year was “Oldschool” by Kuba Badach. The number of copies sold allowed it to obtain the status of a golden record.

The Agora Publishing House's projects have been featured in all of the most important musical summaries of 2017. The album “Noc w wielkim mieście” [English: Night in the Big City] by Jazz Band Młynarski-Masecki became a record of the year in Trójka radio and was also at the top of the summaries of “Polityka” and “Gazeta Wyborcza”. The debut album “niXes” by Ania Rusowicz's NIXES was also at the top of the summaries of the year prepared by “Polityka” and Onet; the latter also appreciated the album “7” by Voo Voo and “Gatunek L” [English: Species L] by GrubSon, and in the category Song of the Year “My Church Is Black” of Me and That Man was distinguished. The editorial team of “Gazeta Wyborcza” included “7” by Voo Voo, “Songs of Love and Death” by Me and That Man and the album “Tamagotchi” by Coals in the list of most important albums of 2017.

In 2017, artists from Agora Publishing House were nominated for many awards. In April, Fryderyk nominations were given to Bisz/Radex for the album “Wilczy humor”, Fisz Emade Tworzywo for “Drony” and Ten Typ Mes for “Ała”. The covers of albums “Gatunek L” by GrubSon, “Polacc” by Marcin Wyrostek, NIXES and Paula & Karol's “Our Town” were nominated in the competition for the best cover of the year by Cover awArts 2017 (more information: http://coverawarts.com). Music videos for songs by Mikromusic, Natalia Kukulska, Wojtek Mazolewski, Marek Napiórkowski, NIXES and A_Gima have received recognition from the Yach Film Festival jury (more details can be found at: http://yff.pl).

The Agora Publishing House is also active in the field of digital music, through Agora Digital Music, which delivers music to the most important digital stores in the world, such as iTunes, Spotify and Tidal. In 2017, Agora Digital Music was joined by Andrzej Rybiński, Krystyna Prońko, Spinache, Lado ABC and TBA Music record labels, as well as the Linia Nocna duo, whose single “Znikam na chwilę” [English: I'm disappearing for a moment] can be heard in an advertisement of Millennium Bank. The Agora Publishing House has also launched “GrubSon Official” and “Kuba Badach” channels on YouTube. GrubSon's video for the single “Restart” announcing the album “Gatunek L” exceeded one million views, however, the biggest success of the passing year belongs to Sławomir, whose video for “Miłość w Zakopanem” has been watched over 70 million times! It was the most popular video on Polish YouTube in 2017.

Musical premieres of Agora Publishing House have not left the top ten of the most popular albums in iTunes for many weeks, and ReTo, an artist collaborating with the Publishing House, was one of the most listened to artists in Polish Spotify service. In 2017, Agora Publishing House signed a direct agreement with Beatport - the world's largest digital store with electronic music.

The Agora Publishing House does not lose its pace when it comes to music, and 2018 promises to be equally fascinating. In January, albums by Urbanator Days, Rosalie and Andrzej Stasiuk with the band Haydamaky will have their premieres. Soon Agora Digital Music will make the whole discography of Budka Suflera available to digital shops, including albums that have not been released before.
