Katarzyna Borkowska and Magdalena Gorzelniak from the Helios cinema network are among the most influential women in the world cinema industry

Katarzyna Borkowska, vice president of the board and managing director of Helios cinema network, and Magdalena Gorzelniak, vice president of the board and sales director of the Helios cinema network were included in the 'Top 50 Women In Global Cinema - 2020' ranking. They are the only Polish women in this prestigious ranking, prepared by the CelluloidJunkie.com.

CelluloidJunkie.com presented the ranking of the most influential women in the cinema industry for the fifth time on June 11th, 2020. As the editors of the website emphasize, there are a lot of such figures in the world cinema, so choosing only 50 was not the easiest task. The jury, composed only of women, pointed out this year's finalists, trying to maintain a balance between individual geographical regions of the world, the achievements of the candidates and their talents. In the 'Top 50 Women In Global Cinema - 2020' list, two Polish women from the Helios cinema network were ranked on 26th place: Katarzyna Borkowska, vice president of the board and managing director, and Magdalena Gorzelniak, vice president of the board and sales director.

Katarzyna Borkowska has been working in Helios for over 20 years. Since 2007, as the managing director and vice president of the management board. She plays an important role in the management structure of the most dynamically developing multiplex network in Poland. She is responsible for the proper functioning of the entire cinema network from the operational and administrative side, and actively participates in the processes related to the opening of new cinemas and the revitalization of existing facilities.

Magdalena Gorzelniak has been working in the company for 18 years. She was the first Helios director of cinema network, regional director and then the head of the cinema management department. Currently, she is  the vice president of the management board and sales director. She is responsible, among others for implementing the marketing strategy and network sales policy. Magdalena Gorzelniak oversees the activities of marketing, promotion and PR departments, special projects, as well as cinema gastronomy.

Helios is the largest cinema network in Poland in terms of number of facilities. It has 49 cinemas with a total of 277 screens and almost 53,000 seats. The company focuses its activities mainly in medium-sized cities, but its cinemas are also present in major Polish agglomerations, including in Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, Tri-City and Wrocław. Agora is the owner of Helios S.A. since 2010.
