Journalists of “Gazeta Wyborcza” receive the prestigious Fikus Prize

Paweł Figurski and Jarosław Sidorowicz were awarded the Dariusz Fikus Prize for “highest-quality journalism”. The jury awarded them for a series of more than 30 texts titled “Daniel Obajtek Scandal” published in “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

In this year's vote on the Fikus Prize, the jury chose three publications which were short-listed among dozens of nominees. Apart from the “Daniel Obajtek Scandal” series of texts, the judges nominated a series of publications on the Wroclaw Pact, resulting from the cooperation of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, Oko. Press and the Reporters' Foundation, as well as articles by Szymon Jadczak and Mateusz Ratajczak from Wirtualna Polska about Łukasz Mejza.

The announcement of this year's winners and the Award (diploma and PLN 10 thousand) ceremony was held yesterday – on 17 May at a ceremonial gala in Warsaw.

The winners of this year's Prize, the “Wyborcza” journalists Paweł Figurski and Jarosław Sidorowicz, are authors of dozens of texts on the past and current activities of Daniel Obajtek, the CEO of Orlen. For their work, they also received a Grand Press award in the investigative journalism category.
