"Gazeta Wyborcza" with 6 European Newspaper Awards

"Gazeta Wyborcza" has won another prestigious industry awards - this time for the best designed covers. „Wyborcza’s” team has received 6 prizes in 2 categories, with the jury of the European Newspaper Awards recognizing the unique graphic designs of the daily.

This year - the 23rd edition of the European Newspaper Awards was attended by 161 newspapers from 24 countries. They competed for the titles of the best-designed regional, national and weekly newspaper, and for thematic prizes. The organizers of the competition received over 4 thou. entries from which the winners in 20 categories were selected

"Gazeta Wyborcza" took part in the competition only for the second time. This year, its team won 6 awards in 2 categories: 4 as "section covers" and 2 in the storytelling category - for graphic materials presenting the salaries of priests and BIQdata material about disappearing monuments of Zakopane. The projects appreciated by the jury can be seen in the galery above and at Wyborcza.pl.

The main prizes of the European Newspaper Awards competition were given to newspapers: from Norway - European Newspaper of the Year Award in the Local Newspaper category for "Hallingdølen", Belgium – award in the National Newspaper category for "De Tijd", Spain – award in the Regional Newspaper Category for "Ara" and Portugal – award in the Weekly Newspaper category for" Expresso".

Among the Polish titles, the awards were also received by the editorial offices of "Gazeta Polska" and "Dziennik Zachodni".

The European Newspaper Awards is a competition for the best designed European newspapers. It was founded and is being organized by newspaper designer Norbert Küpper from Meerbusch, Germany. The first winners were announced in 1999.
