The year 2020 will go down in history as a time of health, economic, political and climate crises. It is also the beginning of an era of "new normality", in which reliable and verified information is particularly important. Gazeta.pl wants to be the first choice medium for users at that time, which is why the team of the portal published today - on Friday, May 8th, 2020 on its main page the unique "Gazeta.pl Declaration".
The declaration contains the most important principles that the portal team follows when preparing the content, as well as topics particularly important from the editorial perspective. Gazeta.pl wants to support readers in finding answers to important questions, looking for those answers at the source and directing readers to experts: doctors, economists and other specialists who cooperate with the portal. Gazeta.pl editors will also be looking for answers to the questions "what world awaits us after the pandemic?" and "what will the new normality be?"
The Gazeta.pl team does not forget that in the current situation a moment of breath is also needed, therefore in selected editorial sections readers will not find news about the coronavirus and the crisis related to it. - In the current situation, which for many people could be cause of additional, negative emotions, we do not want to further intensify them. We want to provide information in a fair, reliable way that does not cause unnecessaryfear, as well as provide only checked, the most important and the latest news. We do not consciously dazzle with "red stripes", we write without looking for cheap, based on negative emotions, sensation - says Łukasz Kijek, editor-in-chief of Gazeta.pl news sites.
In addition to the promise of preparing reliable and verified news, Gazeta.pl is also to describe current problems and get involved in important social issues. The editors of the portal remind that Gazeta.pl as the first one appealed for putting on masks and supported the #stayathome action, and after a pandemic broke out, founded a respirator for the hospital in Sucha Beskidzka together with its readers.
An important place in the "Gazeta.pl Declaration" is occupied by the topic of the environment and the climate crisis - these are issues particularly close to the editorial office, which has long encouraged its readers to ecological attitudes and declares that it wants to be the greenest medium in Poland. It does so as part of numerous "green" cycles, including "Fridays for the climate", which today celebrate first anniversary, as well as through the Green Newsletter and on the website Zielona.Gazeta.pl.
