Digital Citylights in Warsaw bus shelters

Digital Citylights in Warsaw bus shelters

In August 2021, AMS, with the approval of the Public Transport Authority, introduced digital citylights in bus shelters of Warsaw Public Transport. In the first stage of the pilot program, they will appear in 15 locations. Thanks to this solution, during city trips passengers will gain access to detailed information about journeys in an interactive form, as well as useful content through the Cityinfo, proprietary information channel.

Digital Citylights from AMS offer are modern digital screens located in bus shelters and equipped with a number of functionalities that facilitate traveling around the city. The system uses publicly available data on the current location of Warsaw Public Transport vehicles. Thanks to this innovative solution, travelers can track the location of buses and trams that run in the immediate vicinity of a given stop on the map. Additionally, at the bus or tram stop it is possible to charge the phone and use a contactless diffuser for hand disinfection. This is the first test of such devices at public transport shelters, scheduled for the end of this year. If the devices prove themselves in public spaces and are still needed, they will be installed as a standard in digital city-lights. AMS is responsible for their service.

Once we know when our bus or tram arrives, we can also check the weather forecast, traffic difficulties, or simply have some fun by following the Cityinfo news channel - boards with local editorial and city content, presented in ten different thematic categories. For example, in the "Feel the History" category, one can admire archival photos of Warsaw, while "My Town" presents interesting, up-to-date photos. There is also an adoption corner aiming to help dogs from shelters to find a new home.

- We are very glad that the bus shelters of Warsaw Public Transportoffer new functionalities to its passengers. The ability to track the buses and trams on a map will facilitate trip planning and enable travelers to save time, especially since the road situation in Warsaw can change dynamically. Additionally, photos of the capital city can inspire both, residents and tourists to go on trips, of course by public transport - says Katarzyna Strzegowska, Director of the Public Transport Authority.

- We consistently implement the Smart City policy and introduce services that are useful for residents of Polish cities - says Robert Bartoszcze, Digital Director at AMS. - Transfering the information typically available in dedicated applications to the screens enables us to reduce the barrier of the availability of digital services for people who do not use such applications on a daily basis or their phone has simply run out - he adds.

A similar system, had been already implemented at bus shelters in Kraków and in Poznań and won a number of awards in the Innovation 2020 competition, being also a finalist of the „Dobry Design 2020” („Good Design 2020”) competition in the Service category.

AM, winner of numerous awards, is the leader of Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising market in Poland. It offers classic and digital OOH solutions. Since September 2002, it belongs to the Agora Group.  AMS offers clients effective campaigns with the use of modern tools and 23 thou. advertising spaces, having, as the only company, panels in each market segment.
