"Bogowie" ("Gods") - Best Film of the 39th Gdynia Film Festival

"Bogowie" ("Gods") directed by Łukasz Palkowski has been declared the Best Film at the 39th International Gdynia Film Festival. The production gained as much as 5 statuettes, including the Golden Lions award for Best Film and the award for Best Leading Actor for Tomasz Kot. Agora is the co-producer and NEXT FILM, owned by Helios Group, is the distributor of the film. The film will premiere in cinemas in Poland on October 10th this year.

39th Gdynia Film Festival was a big success for "Bogowie", a fascinating story of the Polish cardiac surgeon professor Zbigniew Religa. The film impressed the jury and won the most important award - Grand Prix of the Main Competition. The director Lukasz Palkowski and the producer Piotr Wozniak-Starak accepted the award on behalf of creators and actors.

The award for Best Leading Actor went to Tomasz Kot who played the role of Zbigniew Religa. Krzysztof Rak received the award for best screenplay. Wojciech Żegała was awarded for art direction, and Agnieszka Hodowana and Aneta Brzozowska for make-up. The film also received the journalists' prize and was honoured as the longest applauded production.

"Bogowie" is the fourth film co-produced by Agora. Previous include: "Baby są jakies inne" ("Women are somewhat different") by Marek Koterski, "Drogówka" ("Traffic Department") by Wojciech Smarzowski and "AmbaSSada" ("EmbaSSy") by Juliusz Machulski.

Next Film is a distribution company that is part of the Helios Group, which was founded in 2012. Since then it introduced to the cinemas: "Drogówka", "Papusza", "Powstanie Warszawskie", "Być jak Kazimierz Deyna", "AmbaSSada" and "Karuzela". In 2014 Next Film will distribute "Bogowie" and "Serce, serduszko i wyprawa na koniec świata".
