Microsoft:
Microsoft is an international supplier of computer software, server applications and IT solutions for private users, businesses and institutions. Its flagship products include the Microsoft Widows operating system, Microsoft Office System application package, Microsoft Dynamics line of business management solutions, Microsoft Windows Server System applications and Microsoft.NET technology.
The Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 in the USA, and its Polish office was incorporated in 1992. As part of its world-wide network, Microsoft employs more than 71000 experts from various fields, including 250 in Poland.
Microsoft has always subscribed to the view that new technology, when made available and user-friendly, is an excellent tool for building and developing our dreams because it empowers users to take full advantage of the possibilities that lie dormant in us and in the surrounding world. Microsoft's Polish office wants to actively promote economic development and the growth of local communities in Poland. As a natural consequence of that undertaking and as part of its business activity, Microsoft Poland participates in community projects to promote IT education and to effectively counteract the problem of e-exclusion.
In joint effort with non-governmental organisations, Microsoft supports communities whose members are excluded from access to new technologies, knowledge, information and IT skills. As part of the "Microsoft for non-profit" program launched in September 2006, the company supplies Microsoft software to community organisations at no charge. In May 2007, Microsoft was awarded the title of "Benefactor of the Year 2006" in a competition organised by the Academy for the Development of Philanthropy in Poland. Microsoft has also won the recognition of its employees by receiving for a second time the "Best Employer in Poland 2006" title in a Hewitt Associates survey.
