The Online Publishers Association Europe today announced that it has been joined by 2 new members. 20Minutos.es is the third member company from Spain, and Agora, based in Warsaw, is OPA Europe's first Polish member company and first member from Eastern Europe.
OPA Europe President Koro Castellano of elmundo.es commented: "We have been actively recruiting new members in 2007 and I am very pleased to welcome both 20Minutos.es and Agora to our association. They will bring valuable insights from their respective market perspectives."
20Minutos, which publishes several editions of a free daily newspaper in Spain, has a very successful website, which in January of this year received more than 3 million unique visitors. They are part of the Nordic publishing group Schibsted.
Juan José Amor~n, General Manager of the online division declared: "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to join OPA Europe as new members of this organisation. We hope that our young media, born only two years ago, will help our slogan to become reality in Europe: 'Shaping today the media of tomorrow'."
Agora, publishers of Gazeta.pl, and an important blog site Blox.pl, is one of Poland's most innovative online publishers. The Agora group publishes "Gazeta Wyborcza" - Poland's largest quality daily and "Metro", the most widely-read free newspaper. In addition the group publishes 13 magazines and operates the largest outdoor advertising system and a group of local radio stations.
Tomasz Jozefacki, General Manager of the online division, stated: "We are thrilled to join OPA Europe. We strongly believe in supporting close cooperation between European online publishers to develop strong, pan-European standards in online advertising and promoting the Internet as viable medium for advertisers and readers alike".
