In the 10th edition of the competition organized by Press Publishers Association for the Press Cover of the Year - GrandFront, Agora's publications won 8 awards; additionally the daily "Metro" and magazines were also distinguished. "Gazeta Wyborcza" received also GrandFronts of the Dacade for the cover from 2008 and for the cover of Duzy Format (Large Format) from 2005.
On the occasion of the 10th edition of the competition special awards were granted - GrandFronts of the Decade - for the title page and newspaper cover selected from the winners of all previous editions of the competition. The title page of "Duzy Format" (Large Format) from 2005 with the photo of Wladyslaw Bartoszewski taken by Michał Mutor and the cover of "Gazeta Wyborcza" from 2008 on the death of Gustav Holoubek with the photo taken by Maciej Zienkiewicz won the GrandFronts.
The main prize - GrandFront 2011 in the category "nationwide dailies" won the cover page of "Gazeta Wyborcza" with the photo taken by Adam Kozak (no. 235/2011). On the cover, Marek Kondrat, persuaded " Vote, unless you want to have a hangover". The second prize went to the daily "Metro". The cover of the issue dated June 15th, 2011, prepared by Metro's art director, Magdalena Mamajek-Mich, launched the campaign "Reading is sexy". The pictures were prepared by Hanna Pyrzynska. Also "Gazeta Wyborcza" with another cover received a distinction in this category.
"Wysokie Obcasy Extra" (High Heels Extra) - the magazine prepared by "Gazeta Wyborcza" - received two distinctions in the category "Multi - subject magazines", and "Ksiazki.Magazyn do czytania" (Books. Magazine to read) - also prepared by "Gazeta Wyborcza" - was awarded in the category "Hobby magazines".
The monthly "Dziecko" (Child) was 3rd in the category "Popular handbooks for women", and "Poradnik Domowy" (Housekeeping) received a distinction in this category.
The awards granted in the GrandFront competition are the most prestigious distinctions for press graphic artists. They were granted on May 22nd, 2012 in Royal Castle in Warsaw. The competition is organized under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage - Bogdan Zdrojewski.
This year, 205 editorial teams with 472 projects participated in the competition. The competition was divided into 2 groups: newspapers and magazines. The winners received statuettes designed by the sculptor Hanna Jelonek from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
