Agora as the lead producer of "Król Życia"

Press release

On the 25th October will premiere "Król Życia", Agora's first own film production directed by Jerzy Zieliński. Agora will co-produce the film with Media & Digital Communications Group Dentsu Aegis Network Polska. "Król Życia" will be distributed by NEXT FILM, a Helios subsidiary. It is co-financed by Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej (Polish Film Institute).

"Król Życia" is a smart comedy about modern world. It tells the story of Edward (starring Robert Więckiewicz), a forty-something ordinary corporate worker who is fed up with his work and the world in general. One day every thing changes, though. Edward starts to see other people, becomes a positive, open and happy person.

Robert Więckiewicz will be featured by Magdalena Popławska and Bartłomiej Topa. The film is a directing debut of Jerzy Zieliński, a respected camera operator who worked with Agnieszka Holland and Marek Koterski. The screenplay was written by Fadi Chakkour, lawyer for whom it is also a debut.

The film was shot in autumn 2014, and now it is being postproduced.

"Król Życia" by Jerzy Zieliński is the Agora's first own film production. So far the company co-produced "Bogowie" by Łukasz Palkowski, "Drogówka" by Wojciech Smarzowski, "Discopolo" by Maciej Bochniak, "Ziarno prawdy" by Borys Lankosz", "Baby są jakieś inne" by Marek Koterski, "AmbaSSada" by Juliusz Machulski, "Serce, serduszko" by Jan Jakub Kolski and "Świadectwo by Paweł Pitera". 2015 will also premiere two new films co-produced by Agora: "Obce niebo" by Dariusz Gajewski" and "Karbala" by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz.

NEXT FILM is a distributing company, a subsidiary of Helios, since 2012. Every year NEXT FILM introduces to Polish cinemas most watched Polish films, in 2013 "Drogówka" by Wojciech Smarzowski, and in 2014 "Bogowie" by Łukasz Palkowski, winner of the 29th Gdynia Film Festival.

In 2015 NEXT FILM will distribute all Agora's films in production or co-production as well as "Ze wszystkich sił" and "A Tale of Love and Darkness", a Natalie Portman's direction debut with Sławomir Idziak's pictures.
