Helios was established in 1993. The company has developed its operations by both organic growth and successful acquisitions (including acquisition of the network of 5 multiplex cinemas under Kinoplex brand in 2007 located in Gdansk, Bielsko - Biala, Warsaw, Opole and Kielce) and created the network which consists of 44 cinemas around Poland
1. On August 31, 2010 Agora has become the majority shareholder of Helios.
Helios at present runs the cinema network consisting of 44 multiplexes, with the total of 241 screens and over 49 thousand seats. The company concentrates its operations in cities below 250 thou. inhabitants and is a market leader in that segment, but cinemas of Helios are also located in the largest Polish cities, inter alia in Łodz, Gdansk, Wroclaw.
The cinemas comprising Helios network include modern multiplexes like the multiplex in Wroclaw - Helios' largest cinema, as well as traditional, furnished with two screens Baltyk cinema in Łodz. The majority of the cinemas from the Helios network were opened in the years 2005 - 2008. These are modern, well-equipped cinemas with esthetic interiors and inspiring architecture. The Helios cinema network is equipped with high - tech audio - video systems ensuring high quality of film screening, including up - to - date 3D technology in Dolby 3D Digital system.
The repertoire of Helios cinemas includes the latest 2D and 3D productions as well as - in some of the cinemas - titles presenting amateur and arthouse cinema productions. Helios carries out in its selected cinemas the educational authorial programs aimed at children and teenagers.
Helios intends to develop its operations on the cinema market over the next years by investing in multiplexes and in new digital projectors, including projectors enabling screening of 3D films.
