"Duży Format" for smartphones - a new mobile application from "Gazeta Wyborcza"

Owners of smartphones with iOS and Android systems are now able to read digital versions of the articles from "Duży Format" - since the end of January 2015 a new mobile application provides convenient access to the texts of Thursday's magazine of "Gazeta Wyborcza" on smartphones.

The new application has been adapted to the displays of smartphones with the most popular operating systems. Its graphic design resembles that of the paper editions of "Duży Format", but many of its elements - eg. layout, font sizes and the way of displaying images - has been exclusively tailored for mobile screens. Readers of the magazine can comfortably enjoy the magazine's content on their mobile devices, and share the most interesting articles with their friends on Facebook.

- "Duży Format" for smartphones is first of all the chance for those who like to read long, interesting articles and want to access them in a convenient and mobile way. Around the world, the number of such readers is increasing thanks to bigger screen sizes of mobile phones. According to Adobe, the bigger the screen, the more we read*. That is why in this new proposal for our users we focused on the writting, a friendly typography and layout tailored to smartphones. This is the direction, in which we want to develop other mobile applications of our weeklies, we are already thinking of "Ale Historia" application for mobile phones - says Katarzyna Jaklewicz, Director of Digital Development of "Gazeta Wyborcza".

Downloading "Duży Format" application is free, but in order to access individual magazine issues, readers are required to buy a Wyborcza Premium digital subscription of "Gazeta Wyborcza" (more information - wyborcza.pl/paypath/lp/mobile/index.htm) or purchase individual issues of "Duży Format" from iTunes Store or Google Play.

Because of the release of the application smartphone users will receive free access to the issue of "Duży Format" of 22nd January.
