    "Gazeta Wyborcza" distinguished in the competition The Best of Newspaper Design

    "Holiday Magazine", i.e. Saturday edition of "Gazeta WYborcza" received a distinction in an international competition of newspaper design - The Best Newspaper Design organized in USA.

    The jury of the 33rd edition of the competition awarded "Gazeta Wyborcza" in Redesigns Overall Newspaper category. The redesigned and renewed "Holiday Magazine" appeared on the market on September 17th, 2011. The change concerned not only the layout of the cover page and the whole magazine but also introduced a new way of planning and editing of the articles. These elements resulted in coherent composition appreciated not only by the international jury but also by readers.

    The awarded project was created by the team of "Gazeta Wyborcza" graphic artists under the leadership of the title's artistic director - Maciej Kalkus.

    The competition is organized by the Society for News Design in cooperation with S.I. Newhouse Scholl of Public Communications at University of Syracuse in State of New York.

    In this year edition of the competition 10 236 projects from 39 countries participated.

    The main awards went to Mexican "Excelsior", Canadian "national Post" and "The Grid", German "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung and Danish "Politiken".
