Agora's headquarters
Agora's headquarters is an modern, though warm and friendly building, thanks to the use of natural materials (oak and cedar) and external and internal gardens. The entire southern elevation is glazed. The cedar-framed windows reach from floor to ceiling which ensures plenty of natural light. To deflect excessive sunlight, there are vertical cedar brise-soleils on the glazed elevation and a whole system of mesh walkways made of galvanized steel.
At the first floor the eye is drawn to a colonnade of concrete pillars and three rectangular patios. The lobby is an open space and serves multiple functions. The part nearest Czerska Street is open to the public. It provides access to the advertising office and a little cafe for customers and guest. After passing through gates opened with a magnetic card we reach Agora's main street, floored in Norwegian slate and oak laid on end. Here we find the cafeteria. There is a general - access archive located at the end of the lobby. Four groves of bamboo planted across from the latticework staircases adorned the street. More gardens, and there are over a dozen in all, rise up and end at the forth floor under the glass roof of the atria. Watering of the plants is automated at Agora.
A sophisticated new ventilation and air-conditioning system was used for the first time in Poland. Both old air is sucked out and new air brought in through gratings on the floor (under which all cables are also hidden). Thanks to this, the ceiling was left as béton brut - concrete straight off the framework, adorned only with white sails. All the furniture was custom designed and manufactured for Agora's needs. The entire building, its operation and security is controlled by a high-tech electronic Building Monitoring/Management System.
