Agora's book publications include, inter alia, series of lexicons and encyclopedias, fiction and non- fiction literature, books on history and economics as well as handbooks and guidebooks.
Fiction and non-fiction literature
Agora's first publishing project in the "Library of Gazeta Wyborcza" was "Gazeta Wyborcza's" 20th century literature collection. Since then, the Company's publishing output increased by one - off and series publications of fiction and non - fiction literature. Agora published, inter alia, the collection of Ryszard Kapuscinski works, the greatest masterpieces of Stanislaw Lem and twenty one - volume series of the most important dramas by William Shakespeare produced by BBC. An important part of the Company's publication activity are books presenting renowned figures of Polish contemporary history for example "The leader. My contribution to the biography" by Jarosław Kurski dedicated to Lech Walesa, a comprehensive interview " Geremek talks, Zakowski asks. The year 1989" and "The diary taken by the security force" by A.K Wroblewski as well as publications on controversial issues dating back to the second World War, for example " Wolyn 1943 - 2008. Reconciliation" - set of documents, certificates and analyses published in "Gazeta Wyborcza" or "One need not kill me" by Piotr Gluchowski and Marcin Kowalski.
Agora published also albums "The year 1918. Regaining independence" and "Revolutions 1968" presenting through photographs the most important events from the 20th century history.
Books for children
Among Agora's publications for children one can find the collection of Disney's audio stories presenting the most popular movie stories to be read and to be listened to, and the collection "The World's most beautiful fairy tales", which recollected the classical fairy tales in the rendering by Magda Umer and Wojciech Mann. The Album "26 fairy tales from Africa" illustrated by Ryszard Kapuściński's photographs brought closer to the readers the original African stories, and the book "The Zoo" with the poems by Jarosław Mikołajewski was awarded in a competition of IBBA's Polish section for beautiful illustrations by Elżbieta Wasiuczynska.
Knowledge and education
Agora published a large number of anthologies and encyclopedias putting into order general knowledge. Among them one can find: "General history of Poland and the World" - a 21 - volume series recommended by professor Norman Davis, "Encyclopedia of world sports", "Decalogue of knowledge" - thematic encyclopedia dealing with the issues form the field of science and humanities and the "Business" collection - presenting in 10 volumes the most important problems of business and economics. Agora published also books explaining, in an easily understood way, the rules of modern economics: the book "20 years have passed" contained interviews with distinguished representatives of the Polish business elite and the publication "The world that has gone mad. The handbook for interesting times" explained mechanisms of the world economic crisis. Among Agora's collection there is also "Multicourse" - the multimedia course for simultaneous learning of 5 foreign languages.
Tourism
Within the "Library of Gazeta Wyborcza" several collections of guidebooks and travel books were published. The series entitled "Dream journeys" offered guidebooks to the most beautiful countries in the world, the next collection "Dream cities" presents tourist attractions of the cities. Agora published also the collection entitled "Polish Himalayas" bringing closer to the readers the history of Polish expeditions to Mount Everest, whereas the practical guide "Where to go for snowboarding and skiing 2009" was a proposal for winter sports lovers.
Audiobooks
Agora is a forerunner, among press publishers, in selling audio books in mp3 format. The most important audiobook collection published by Agora was "Masters of the word" presenting to the readers remarkable Polish actors, inter alia, Jan Englert, Marek Kondrat, Joanna Szczepkowska and Gustaw Holoubek with their interpretations of Polish and the world literature as "The Dogs of War" by Frederick Forsyth, "Doktor Faustus" by Thomas Mann or "Pride and prejudice" by Jane Austen. The collection was very popular among readers - the series planned as 21 - volume collection was enriched with 6 new volumes. The audiobooks supplemented also a very popular collection of The selected works of Ryszard Kapuscinski as so called "postscripts". The following titles were published in the audio form: "The Emperor: Downfall of an Autocrat", "Shah of Shahs", "The Soccer War" and "Imperium".
