History of "Metro"
1998 - Registration of "Metro" title. First issues distributed together with "Gazeta Wyborcza".

October 2001 - "Metro" changes distribution channel- transforms into a separate free-of-charge newspaper published twice a week in Warsaw in the circulation of 50 thousand copies.

October 2003 - "Metro" broadens its reach in Warsaw - appears five times a week since April 2004. The daily receives new layout and logo and changes its editorial formula.

November 2004 - "Metro" rolled out to 9 more cities: Bydgoszcz, Katowice, Krakow, Lublin, Lodz, Poznan, Szczecin, Trojmiasto and Wroclaw. Average daily circulation in 10 cities reaches 273 thousand copies, while that on Fridays amounts to 468 thousand (ZKDP, February 2005.)

April 2005 -"Metro" rolled out to further 9 cities: Bialystok, Czestochowa, Kielce, Olsztyn, Opole, Radom, Rzeszow, Torun i Zielona Gora. Average daily circulation of "Metro" in 19 cities is planned to reach 502 thousand copies and 820 thousand copies on Fridays (Agora's data).

October 2006 - "Metro" changes its layout to news format. New "Metro" offers more national and worldwide information, as well as, clear layout. 

December 2006 - "Metro" introduces a weekly cultural supplement entitled "Metro City" published on Fridays.

August 2007 - "Metro's" e-edition is launched.

September 2007 - "Metro" launches consecutive supplements: "Sport.pl" nationwide and "MetroPraca.pl" in Warsaw.

November 2007 - "Metro" launches its collection Lexicon of Krzysztof Krawczyk

April 2008 - "Metro" expands its weekly supplement "Metropraca.pl" and broadens its reach by 7 new cities (Katowice, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan, Szczecin, Trojmiasto and Wrocław). 

August 2008 - "Metro" introduces new layout reflecting the change in editorial line into large city newspaper addressing young people.
